Suva Intermediate AVID Program

The AVID program began at Suva 11 years ago and thanks to the great start by our first coordinator, Mrs. Carey, it has been going strong ever since. Mr. Ortiz was the coordinator for a few years and currently Mrs. Ballard is the coordinator. The program includes grades 6, 7 and 8 and accommodates approximately 150 students. The AVID elective teachers are Ms. Lopez for 6th grade, Mrs. Mackay for 7th grade and Mrs. Carey for 8th grade. Language Arts support for the AVID program is provided by Mr. Hall and Mrs. Kelly for 8th grade, Mrs. Mackay and Mr. Tate for 7th grade and Ms. Lopez and Mrs. Gomez for 7th grade. Additional support for AVID is provided by Mr. Mackay and Ms. Dominguez in Math and Ms. Pasquier in Science. The AVID counselor is Ms. Banuelos. Assistant Principal Ms. Knight and Principal Rivera supply terrific administrative support.
